What NOT to do in Savannah
We were having a grand time in downtown Savannah and Amber received a parking ticket. We were only a minute or two shy of when her paid time ran out. Parking services will find you and ticket you even if you show up when they are typing in information regarding your car. Not the most pleasant experience you can have in Savannah. You do not need to pay the parking meters on Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes the city offers free parking during certain hours around the Christmas holidays. You can pay your tickets online or pay in person at Parking Services on Reynolds Square. Parking Services is actually located a block from where Amber received her ticket. Go figure!-Libby

Leopold's Ice Cream Shop on Broughton Street
The line for ice cream was out of the door. We had to have a scoop of heaven. It was so worth the wait! This Broughton Street favorite was closed for many years and reopened by Stratton Leopold in 2004. He is a famous producer who produced such films as; Mission Impossible III, Born Yesterday, and The Wolfman. This ice cream shop is open seven days a week. I foresee the hotter it gets outside the busier it will be inside. Only 90 more things to do in Savannah!-Libby

Broughton Street in the Afternoon
We went for a stroll on Broughton St. This street is located near City Market in downtown Savannah. This street is in the heart of the historic district. The area was booming when my grandparents and parents were growing up. When the first mall in Savannah was built in 1969 this area was no longer the main place or only place for shopping. Since the late 1990’s this area has been coming back to life. You will find some great restaurants and shops located on Broughton Street. Some popular events which occur on Broughton Street are Christmas parade, the SCAD Film Festival, St. Patrick’s Day Parade and SCAD International Festival. Friends, Finds and Fun at Universal Trading Co.
We are always up for a bargain and we can always find something we didn’t think we need but now can’t live without. Greg Portman opened his shop of hidden treasures about thirty years ago. You have to visit the shop often because he is always receiving new shipments. He has a great location in City Market. You can stop by for a look Tuesday thru Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. See you there! Only 92 more things to do in Savannah!-Libby

Skyler's Restaurant
We had a wonderful lunch at Skyler's. This restaurant is located downtown on Bay Street in the basement of the East Bay Inn. It is a well kept secret where you will usually only find locals. I have never not had a delicious meal at Skyler's. The price is reasonable too! They sell art and jewelry made by local artists. They have been open for almost twenty years. Quote
Here is a city whose people, rich and poor, are so steeped in good manners - in the smile, the soft word, the easy humor of the Old South - that truck drivers wave at pedestrians as they pass.
