Here is a city whose people, rich and poor, are so steeped in good manners - in the smile, the soft word, the easy humor of the Old South - that truck drivers wave at pedestrians as they pass.

Papa's for your Party
Amber's son just turned one. At her son's birthday party they served food from Papa's Barbeque and Seafood on Wilmington Island. You can never go wrong with this restaurant's food. They had barbeque, brunswick stew, green beans and rolls. Frank will take good care of you if you drop into his restaurant on Whitmarsh. It was a fun time with great friends and good food! I think the birthday boy had the best time!-Libby

Pinkie Master's
An old Savannah favorite. St. Patrick's Day wouldn't be the same if we didn't go by Pinkie's for a morning beverage and a photo session. The bar hasn't been updated since Pinkie died in 1977. My husband asked me where I would like to have a drink before my birthday dinner. Why did he even ask? We had to have a cocktail in a plastic cup from Pinkies. They have a great juke box. If you visit the bar you never know who you will run into or who you will be dancing with at the end of an evening. If you are expecting fine wine you have the wrong joint. Great memories at Pinkies. This picture of the three of us was actually taken at Pinkie's on St. Patrick's Day. -Libby

St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 17th
A family tradition for some and a way to spend a spring break for others. We would like to think of it as a family tradition. This was the first year we have actually steaked out our own spot in a square. We were down at Madison Square first thing in the morning. However, we did realize we did it all wrong. The women were all loading and unloading cars while the husbands' were at breakfast with father's, brothers' and uncles. We should have had them set up the tent before breakfast and we get there around nine. Also, we could have dropped everything and gone to breakfast ourselves. Thanks, Aunt Kathleen for dropping us off and cousin Becca for helping us set up. Oh, and thank you for lending us the tent. -Libby

Jasper Green Ceremony
We attended the Jasper Green Ceremony in Madison Square on March 16th. Sgt. William Jasper Green was a Revolutionary War hero. It is the only Irish function which honors the military and the Irish. The military units and bagpipers march from Johnson Square to Madison Square. The weather was absolutely beautiful. This ceremony is always the night before St. Patrick's Day. We enjoyed attending several of the Irish events this year. If you are interested in attending next year's events you can find everything on the following website. - Libby

Wild Wing Cafe before the Shamrock Run
We went to Wild Wing Cafe in City Market before the March of Dimes Shamrock Run. We were thirsty. What better way to hydrate than to have a cold one? They had specials on their buckets of beer. Can't miss a special. During the warmer weather it is nice to share some wings and sit outside. They usually have live music on the weekends. You can check out the City Market area webcam by clicking on the link below:

March of Dimes Shamrock Run
We had a blast at the Shamrock run. I believe we started a tradition. We didn't win best costume but we had a great time dressing up. We definitely need to give a shout out to Mrs. Angie Foran. Mr. Foran had emergency gallbladder surgery and she still did the t-shirts. The Forans also had a pool being put in their backyard while Mr. Foran was in the hospital. -Libby

Doc's Bar Tybee Island
We went to Doc's Bar for St. Practice Day on January 17th. A reason to have a cocktail before St. Patrick's Day. Doc's is a fun place to go when you are at Tybee. The best time to go is when the bar is celebrating a holiday or making up their own holiday. They usually have a band entertaining everyone on Friday and Saturday evenings. If you are a tourist it is a great place to pick up a t-shirt or hat as a souvenir. -Libby
